Fresh asparagus stalks will keep for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator if they are kept moist.
For best results, stand them upright in a glass with an inch of water and place in the fridge. Alternately, wrap the stem ends in a damp paper towel before placing in the refrigerator.
Also, make sure to keep the asparagus tips dry to prevent the asparagus from rotting.
Ripening Avocados
Firm avocados will ripen uncovered in 3 to 7 days. They’ll yield to gentle squeezing when they are ripe. To speed ripening, place firm avocados in a paper bag and store at room temperature for 2 to 4 days. Do not use a plastic bag as this will not allow avocados to breathe and will spoil avocados.
